The North Pantanal Safari invites you to savor a blend of nature and excitement in the wild west of Brazil.
Day 1, Cuiabá to River Lodge
Meet your guide in the morning at the or airport (CGB) or hotel in Cuiabá and head to Poconé, the gateway city to northern Pantanal. From there, your wildlife adventure starts as we hit the Transpantaneira. This dirt road offers great chances for watching and photographing the abundant fauna of this region, as the ponds and pools on its sides concentrate a surprising diversity of animals. Arrival at our River Lodge for lunch. After a midday break we'll cruise the Claro River in search of howler monkeys, tapir, otters and a variety of birds. The boat tour finishes at sunset. Dinner and overnight. (L, D)
Day 2, River Lodge to Pantanal Ranch
Sunrise walk, breakfast and transfer to our Pantanal Ranch - a vast mosaic of marshlands, forests, savannas and dry islands, perfect for observing interesting wildlife, such as, monkeys, toucans, and the majestic hyacinth-macaw. In the afternoon, the guide will take you on a jeep safari in search of dry land mammals and birds. Back to the lodge after sundown. With luck, the darkness may reveal foxes, racoons, owls, and other nocturnal species (B, L, D)
Day 3, Land safaris
Full day to explore the many wildlife opportunities on this extraordinary private reserve. Our activities are a combination of overland safaris and forest walks. The guide will accompany you on all excursions to truly enhance your wildlife viewing. (B,L,D).
Day 4, Morning exploring
Witness the awakening of the Pantanal in search of the giant-anteater. The soft light at this time of the day usually provide great pictures.
After breakfast, head back to Cuiabá where the trip ends around 10am. (B)
